Be True to Your School

For this assignment, I had to edit a photo of a bus to make it represent our school. Personally, I didn't really like this project because it was so tedious and took a lot of erasing and adding back on with the images and colors. I began the image with a white bus and had to color in the whole thing so, that was definitely the worst part of this assignment. I think that my design for this bus is pretty effective because it looks pretty realistic for the most part and I included our mascot and one of our schools logos. Also, I made the bus blue, which is one of our schools colors so that helps representation as well. The most challenging part of this assignment was changing the color of the bus because there were many small lines to navigate around and details that shouldn't be covered up. The easiest part of the assignment was placing the image of the eagle and the school logo. This part was the easiest because with copy and pasting and the stamping tool on Pixlr, the process moved along fairly quickly! I personally don;t have a big interest in digital art and design because it can get boring very quickly and I prefer to have some different, new, and interesting things going on. No, I would not want to pursue digital editing or detailing as a job or part of a job because I have already decided on a career that interests me and I don't want to think about doing anything so boring. However, coding in't boring to me because I prefer the feeling of creation rather than taking and changing.

Before the War

For this assignment, I had to edit an old, ripped photo and restore it to its original quality. In my opinion, this assignment was very fun and I felt extremely productive while doing it. I selected this photo because it appealed more to me and I felt that it would be easier to fix than the other one. It ended up being super easy and I think that this picture looks pretty great now! The most challenging part was trying to fix the top left corner to make it look like it was never ripped. I basically had to create a part of the picture that was not there in the first place so it took a lot of use from the stamping tool. The easiest part of the editing process was fixing things like the bushes and the man's coat. These areas had very basic colors and took almost no time to repair the tears in the picture. Before this assignment, I had not used a photo retouching program before because I never really had a reason to, but I felt that this process went very well! I probably would not want to restore and retouch photos as a job or part of a job because it would get very tedious and annoying after a long time. Although art and everything is very interesting, the line has to be drawn somewhere.

Freak of Nature

For the assignment "Freak of Nature", I created an animal that is a mix of an Alaskan Malamute dog and a butterfly. I chose to mix these two animals because they are extremely different from each other but are both equally adorable. The colors, textures and species of these two animals are basically polar opposites so mixing them together in some way was pretty difficult. Although Pixlr was very easy to use and no functions were that difficult to understand, the most difficult part was trying to find a way to mix these two creatures. Considering there was no other part of one animal that I could have placed onto the other, I had to settle for just placing the wings of the butterfly on the dog. The easiest part of this assignment was definitely cutting out the part of the animal that i wanted to use on the other one. However, this would have been way more difficult if I didn't have the tutorial! In the end though, I don't think the creature I have created looks very realistic which is honestly expected with the mix of these two animals. It looks absolutely fake but it fits the assignment. I have used a photo editing software one other time just to make entertaining pictures of different celebrities with friends but other than that no, I have never had a reason to.
